It is 1950, during the Cold War, a flying saucer with a newcomer, Klaatu, and his mighty robot Gort, lands on Earth in Washington, D.C. Klaatu is shot by a soldier and rushed to the hospital. He has an important message to deliver and demands a meeting with representatives of all nations. People say it's impossible. Klaatu escapes from the hospital and decides to learn more about people by taking refuge with an earthly family.
